The Well-Read Kitchen

We’ve just received Oversharing, the new cookbook from Cortney LaCorte, better known as Cheese Gal. We ordered it for the shop because her approach to food and entertaining feels very much in keeping with what we like: recipes you’ll actually use, beautiful presentation, and plenty of ideas for having people over.

From Nashville Cheese Gal to Cookbook Author

Before the cookbook, Cortney built her Nashville catering business around beautifully arranged cheese and charcuterie boards. Her clients have included Shania Twain, Kacey Musgraves, and Maren Morris. What began with boards for friends grew into a business serving some of the biggest names in country music.

Oversharing: Anytime Snacks, Everyday Dinners, and Cooking for Company brings that experience into the home kitchen, with snacks, everyday meals, and recipes for entertaining. We like that it isn’t only about special occasions. There are ideas here for an ordinary evening at home as well as a table full of guests.

A Conversation with Katie Lee

Her conversation with Katie Lee Biegel on All on the Table is a great introduction to her. They talk about cheese boards, French butter, couch snacks, and Cortney’s search for the perfect dirty martini. If you’re curious about the person behind the book, this is a good place to start.

At Home with Cortney

We also wanted to share her Homeworthy house tour. Her home in Franklin, Tennessee, combines European antiques, rich patterns, and pieces collected over time. Although the house is new, those choices give it the warmth and character of an older home.

It’s a lovely companion to the cookbook—a look at the rooms where she cooks, entertains, and spends time with her family.

A Taste of Her Cooking: The Dirty Like the Cumberland Martini

For a small introduction to her recipes, Cortney’s dirty martini combines freezer-cold vodka, Castelvetrano olive brine, a rinse of dry vermouth, and blue-cheese-stuffed olives. She shares the full recipe on her website, including her tips for getting it properly cold.
