Vintage 1969 Handmade Irish Whiskey Leprechaun Decanter

Why we like it
There is something wonderfully eccentric about this fellow. A vintage ceramic whiskey decanter fashioned as a jaunty Irish gentleman, complete with shamrock-covered hat, rosy cheeks, wonderfully textured cream scarf and basket-weave base.

Hand-inscribed “IRISH WHISKEY” across the front and dated 1969 on the underside, this appears to be a handmade or studio-pottery piece rather than a commercially produced liquor decanter. The character's head serves as the stopper, making the entire piece as much sculpture as barware.

A marvelous addition to a home bar, St. Patrick's Day collection or shelf of unusual vintage finds — and exactly the sort of piece we're unlikely to see twice.
