A wonderfully spirited vintage metal serving tray celebrating Scotland’s beloved “Auld Lang Syne.” Against a handsome olive-green ground, a colorful gathering of Highland characters appears in tartan kilts and plaids, complete with feathered caps, sporrans, bagpipes and raised tankards.

“Auld Lang Syne”—loosely translated as “for old times’ sake”—is the traditional Scottish song of friendship, remembrance and Hogmanay celebrations. The tray’s witty figures, wonderfully rich colors and fine gold-colored border give it tremendous mid-century character.

Believed to date from the 1950s and attributed to Nashco Products of New York. The design has also been associated with artist John Teppich. Because the original label is no longer present, the attribution is based upon matching documented examples.

A delightful addition to a home bar, gentleman’s den, bookcase or New Year’s celebration—and an especially charming gift for anyone with Scottish heritage.

Painted metal. Approximately 14¾" × 10¾"

Very good vintage condition, with light surface scratches and minor wear to the gold-colored rim consistent with age. The illustration remains remarkably bright and crisp.

For decorative use or serving glassware and wrapped foods; we recommend avoiding direct contact between unwrapped food and vintage painted surfaces.
