Caswell-Massey’s story begins in a Newport, Rhode Island, apothecary in 1752—nearly a quarter century before the Declaration of Independence. Its Number Six fragrance, introduced in 1772, became a favorite of George Washington. Jockey Club, first created in 1840, later found an admirer in John F. Kennedy.
